Jenna Jameson, a well-known former porn star was arrested on a charge of battery in Newport Beach, California, Saturday night.

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Newport Beach police arrested a former porn star on a battery charge, Saturday night.

Police said the alleged victim conducted a citizen's arrest on Jenna Jameson, 38, aka Jenna Marie Massoli. The victim detained Jameson at the Balboa Penbinsula home in Orange County until police arrived.

Jameson was charged with one count of battery, a misdemeanor, and released on her own recognizance. A preliminary arraignment date has been set. This is not the first time Jameson has run afoul of the law.

In May, she was arrested for driving under the influence following an accident in which her vehicle collided with a utility pole. In August, she entered a guilty plea and was given an informal probation sentence of three years.

Jameson, in 2008, left the adult film industry at the height of her career.
